NCSS Calculator

Some calculations from Chapter 13 can be completed with the "NCSS Probability Calculator". These calculations include standardizing the value "X" of a normal variable (x) to a standard normal value "Z", determining the percentile for this particular value (i.e., the probability of being less than or equal to this value), and determining the probability of being greater than or equal to this value. You may also specify a certain percentile (probability), and the calculator will give the observed value (for "X" and "Z") corresponding to that percentile. This probability calculator will give results for any values of interest, including those that are not found in Table B of the text.

The "NCSS Probability Calculator" is shareware developed by NCSS. Although it may be distributed free of charge, NCSS retains all copyrights, and you may not charge another person for this program. You may download the calculator by clicking on the following file: <ncsscalc.zip>. This is a zipped file, and you will have to use software such as <Winzip95.exe> to unzip this file. Simply download the <Winzip95.exe> file into a directory that you will remember, and then go to that directory and double click the file; it is a self-extracting executable file and will install itself. Simply follow the directions. After you have unzipped <ncsscalc.zip> into your desired directory, click on <ncsscalc.exe>.
The calculator can also be downloaded from the NCSS website:  ncss_logo.gif (4839 bytes) , where you can read about other NCSS products including their statistical software package.
